A DELEGATION FROM BOTSWANA DEFENCE FORCES VISITED THE ARMY’S PANDUR TRAINING & SIMULATION NUCLEUS

 

The PANDUR training & simulation nucleus from the 13th Infantry Regiment (RI13) in Vila Real, received on the 8th of April from Meridional Africa a Botswana Defense Forces delegation of 4 people, with the objective of knowing the areas related with the development of the Pandur Dynamic Driving Simulator (PDDS).

 

The BDF acquired a simulator, similar to the already existing in the PRT/A, for training the driving of Piranha 3+ Wheeled Armored Vehicles produced by General Dynamics European Land Systems (GDELS), denominated Piranha 3+ Dynamic Driving Simulator (P3+DDS), developed by EMPORDEF T.I., under the guidance of General Commercial Services (GCS, GmbH)

 

Accompanying the visit were elements from GDELS-MOWAG, ETI, GCS and PRT/A, namely representatives from the Chief of Staff resources division, from the Training Direction, Army Infrastructure Direction, Material & Transport Direction and from the PRT/A Geospace Center. From the visit’s program we highlight the demonstration of the PDDS by the RI13, as well as the performance of a technical meeting, conducted by MAJ GEN in reserve Miguel Leitão, in his. function of Steering Board Chairman from the PDDS project. A PRT/A Communications and Information System presentation was also performed by MAJ Pedro Grifo from the PRT/A Signal Regiment.

 

To end the visit, the delegation had the opportunity to visit the Tactical simulator.
